Sloping market move

MUMBAI: After four days of continuous rise, the market moves slowly to dull. Sensex and Nifty can be seen doing business in a limited range throughout the day. The Nifty dived to 10324 today, so the Sensex fell to 33175. BSE’s 30-share index Sensex fell 53 points, or 0.15 percent, to close at 33,213. The NSE’s 50-share index Nifty closed at 283, i.e. 0.25 percent, at 10,335 level.

Mid-cap stocks were also sluggish, but smallcap stocks saw little purchases. BSE’s mid-cap index closed with a marginal increase of 0.15 percent. Nifty’s mid-caps 100 Index has gained 0.1 percent. BSE’s smallcap index closed up 0.5 percent.

PSU Bank, Metal, Auto and Capital Goods shares have put pressure on the market. Bank Nifty closed at a level of 25,019 with a marginal increase of 0.1 percent. However, the Nifty’s PSU Bank Index was 2.1 per cent, the Metal Index fell 1.7 per cent and the Auto Index was 0.5 per cent. However, buying in private banks, realty, FMCG and consumer durables stocks has been seen.

In today’s business, ULL, Vedanta, Infosys, Gail, Mahindra and Mahindra, Tata Steel, SBI and Tata Motors have fallen off by 3-1.7 per cent. However, Axis Bank, Bharti Infra, ONGC, BHEL, HCL Tech, BPCL, Bharti Airtel and Hero Moto have closed up 8-0.6 per cent in the giants.

In mid-cap stocks, BEEL, MRPL, Nalco, Tata Communications and Oberoi Realty were up 5.3-3.6 per cent to close. However, in mid-cap stocks, Union Bank, IDBI Bank, LIC Housing, Indian Bank and SAIL have closed down by 3.8-2.6 per cent.

In the smallcap stocks, 8 of the miles, Balaji Amines, India glycos, Kiri Industries and St-Gobin have climbed up to 16.8-13 per cent. However, in smallcap stocks, Bhushan Steel, Tanla Solutions, Oricon Enterprises, LG Balakrishnan and OnMobile Global have broken down to 11.2-6.2 per cent.

New record on expiry day

Mumbai: On the expiry day, the market witnessed a sharp rise in the last half hour between the ups and downs and made the new all-time high. When the Sensex hit the Century, the Nifty touched a high of 10,356 while making the new high. The Sensex today created the highest level of record of 33,151.26. Today, there is a good buy day in mid-cap stocks. Finally, the BSE 30-share index Sensex closed 105 points, or 0.3 percent, at 33,147 level. NSE’s 50-share index Nifty closed at 484 points, which is 0.5 percent, at 10,344 level.

Today, metal, pharma, auto, capital goods, oil and gas and power shares have seen buying. Nifty metal index has gained two per cent, Pharma index gained 0.9 per cent and Auto index 0.6 per cent. The BSE Capital Goods Index has gained 1.25 per cent, oil and gas index 2.2 per cent and power index 0.5 per cent.

The Bank Nifty has closed flat at 25,022.2, while the Nifty’s PSU Bank index has declined by 0.5 percent. It has also seen selling in IT and consumer durables stocks today. Nifty’s IT index has gained 0.4 per cent and BSE’s consumer durables index has declined by 0.8 per cent.

In today’s business, BHEL, BPCL, IOC, HPCL, Cipla, Maruti Suzuki, Axis Bank and Tata Steel were up 6.5-1.7 per cent to Rs. However, HCL Tech, Indiabulls Housing, ICICI Bank, Power Grid, Ambuja Cement, Tata Motors DVR, SBI, Bharti Airtel and TCS were closed down by 4.2-0.75 per cent in giants.

In mid-cap stocks, SAIL, Adani Power, Union Bank, TVS Motor and Bajaj Holdings have climbed up to 14.4-4.1 per cent. However, in the midcap stocks, Tata Communications, Amphassis, Torrent Pharma, Canara Bank and Berger Paints have slipped down 5.3-3.3 per cent.

In smallcap stocks, Polaris, Corporation Bank, Selan Exploration, Gujarat Fluoro, Dilip Buildcon and Himadri Special have climbed up to 20-11.9 per cent. However, in smallcap stocks, Arcotech, Bank of Maharashtra, Mstek, Seamac and 63 Moons Tech have been closed for 10-5 per cent.
