Market downturn continued, market capitalization came to 128 lakh crores

Mumbai: The fall in the domestic market continued for the past few days and now the total market capitalization of the listed companies has come to Rs 128 lakh crore, compared to Rs 132 lakh crore 15 days ago. BSE’s 30-share index Sensex closed at 31,292 level with a marginal increase of 33 points (0.1 percent). On the other hand, NSE’s 50-share index Nifty closed 11 points i.e. 0.1 percent and closed flat at 9765.5 level.

In fact, there have been two main reasons for the decline in the market over the past 15 days. One by one, capital market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) banned 331 companies by masking them, and the resignation of Vishal Sikka, Chief Executive Officer of Infosys, another country’s leading information and technology company. Both of these incidents have created problems for the market. This has reduced investor’s assets also.

On Tuesday, Nifty was able to cross over 9800, while in the early trade, the Sensex gained 200 points. In Tuesday’s trading, the Nifty knocks up to 9828.5, while the Sensex reached 31,484.28.

Selling in mid-caps and smallcap stocks has been seen. The BSE mid-cap index fell 0.4 percent to 14,926 levels. BSE’s mid-cap index reached 15125. In today’s business, the Nifty mid-cap reached 100 index 17930. BSE’s Smallcap index fell by 0.4 percent to close at 15410 levels. In today’s turnover, the BSE’s Smallcap index reached 15585.

Auto, FMCG, IT, Metal, PSU Bank, Realty, Capital Goods, Consumer Durables and Power shares have seen pressure on the sell. Nifty’s auto index has declined 0.9 percent and PSU bank index has declined 0.4 percent. Nifty’s FMCG, IT and metal index are sluggish. BSE Realty Index has 1.2 per cent, Capital Goods Index 0.6 per cent, Consumer Durables Index 0.6 per cent and Power Index 1.1 per cent.

However, buying in private banks, pharma and oil and gas stocks has been seen. Bank Nifty closed at a level of 23,974 with an increase of 0.15 percent. Nifty’s pharma index has gained nearly 1% and BSE’s oil and gas index has gained 1.3%.

Indian Hotels, CG Consumer, Reliance Capital, LKem Lab and Tata Global Breweries in the mid-cap stocks have broken down to 7.3-3 per cent. In smallcap stocks, Indo Count, Oriental Weinier, Global Offshore, Ioil Chemicals and Dwarkish Sugars have been rolled down by 7.8-5.5 per cent. Dr Reddy’s, BPCL, IOC, Lupine, Sun Pharma, ONGC and Axis Bank have closed up to 2.75-1 per cent in the gains.
